eye usually bare (pubescent in Z. zejana); prementum 4-8 times as long as wide; proepisternum pubescent only in Z. antoniae; katepisternal setae not in a straight line; scutellum entirely black in ground colour; anterior and posterio lappets of metathoracic spiracle sub-equal in size; basicosta black (very rarely reddish); outer vertical setae of male usually absent or weak; hind tibia often with 3 dorsal preapical setae (2 in Z. elegans, Z. antoniae e alcune Z. sp. fc. Brevicornis from Greece); male often with a complete row of proclinate orbital setae
